    Alexander (Lex) Hayward

    Alexander (Lex) Hayward, Director, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Lex has a wealth of property valuation knowledge stemming from a career which began in the Valuation Department and then moved into private practice, culminating in the establishment of his own valuation firm, Alexander Hayward Ltd, in 1982. 

    He has been a Valuer based in Marlborough since 1976, and has developed an in-depth knowledge of the local property market including commercial, industrial, tourist accommodation and viticultural interests in the region. Lex specialises in appraisal of unique property types such as fractional interests, going concerns, aquaculture farms, transmitter sites, infrastructural assets and Marlborough Sounds properties, which sees him in demand throughout the Marlborough region.

    Lex is a:
    • Registered Public Valuer, holding an Annual Practising Certificate 
    • Registered Plant & Machinery Valuer
    • Fellow Member of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers
    • Property Consultant holding "Fellow" Membership of the Property Institute of New Zealand 
    • Qualified Arbitrator & Mediator
    • Associate of the Arbitrators & Mediator’s Institute for New Zealand
    • Member of the Land Valuation Tribunal appointed by the Minister of Justice 
    His qualifications include:
    • Diploma in Agriculture 
    • Diploma in Valuation and Farm Management (Lincoln University)
    With all this experience and expertise, Lex doesn't have a lot of spare time. He and his wife, Sylvia, operate Benmorven Cottage in Blenheim, a luxury retreat on their vineyard in the heart of the Marlborough wine region. When Lex does get time to unwind, he enjoys keel yacht racing, boating, fishing, scuba diving and travelling with his family.

    David (Dave) Stark

    David (Dave) Stark, Director, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Specialising in the rural, viticultural, horticultural and lifestyle properties, pastoral farming blocks, Dave is an experienced property consultant with 27 years of property valuations under his belt in the Marlborough and Nelson regions. He has seen the transformation of greater Marlborough into the busy province we know today. 

    Dave is a:
    • Registered Public Valuer, holding an Annual Practising Certificate
    • Fellow Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand
    • Fellow Member of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers
    His qualifications include:
    • Bachelor of Agricultural Commerce specialising in Valuation and Farm Management
    When he's not at work, Dave can be found cycling the byways of Marlborough. He has completed the Kekerengu Moa Hunt, Molesworth Muster and Graperide.   Dave also enjoys playing golf and tennis as well as fishing in the Marlborough Sounds.

    Jim Sampson

    Jim Sampson, Senior Registered Property Valuer, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Jim joined Alexander Hayward Ltd in 1999, and has over 50 years valuation experience in New Zealand.  He is Alexander Hayward's senior residential, commercial, retail and industrial valuer, covering Blenheim, Picton, Marlborough Sounds and urban areas. 

    Jim is a:
    • Registered Public Valuer holding an Annual Practising Certificate
    • Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers
    • Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand
    Outside of work, Jim's interests include sport (tennis) and music (Barbershop chorus).

    Bridget Steele

    Bridget Steele, Senior Registered Property Valuer, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Blenheim, Kaikoura and Greater Marlborough are Bridget's areas where she specialises in residential, rural, lifestyle, commercial and retail property valuations. She's been valuing properties for over 27 years, and in 2000 brought her expertise to Alexander Hayward Ltd.

    Bridget is a:
    • Registered Public Valuer holding an Annual Practising Certificate
    • Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers 
    • Senior Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand
    Bridget’s qualifications include:
    • Bachelor of Business Studies, specialising in Valuation and Property Management, with additional papers in finance towards a Post Graduate Diploma
    In her spare time, Bridget enjoys mucking about in boats, whether it is kayaking or biscuiting with her children or pursuing a giant snapper in the Kenepuru. She lives on sheep farm in the Awatere District with her husband and two children.

    Blair Harvey, B.Com (VPM), MPINZ, Registered Property Valuer, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Blair believes in being the best, and enjoys working with clients that are not simply looking for a valuation, but superior, practical and honest advice.  A six generation Marlburian, Blair has a unique understanding of the Marlborough region and views himself as a strategic partner working with you for all your valuation needs. 

    Blair’s specialist areas include commercial, retail, industrial, rentals, worker accommodation, viticulture and residential.

    Blair is a:
    • Registered Public Valuer holding an Annual Practising Certificate
    • Member of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers
    • Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand (MPINZ)
    • Vice Chair of the Nelson/Marlborough Branch of the Property Institute of New Zealand 
    Blair's qualifications include:
    • Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Valuation and Property Management with additional papers in statistics, finance and management (Lincoln University)
    Outside work, Blair's interests include sport (tennis and rugby), skiing, fishing, diving and anything else Marlborough has to offer.

    Hadley Hayward, B.COM, GD Val, Graduate Property Valuer, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Hadley joined the Alexander Hayward Team in 2013 after attending both Otago and Lincoln Universities and briefly travelling overseas. Having been brought up in Marlborough and introduced to Valuation from an early age, his specialist areas include Marlborough Sounds properties, viticulture, lifestyle and residential property.

    Hadley is a:
    • Member (non-registered) of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers
    • Graduate Member of the Property Institute of New Zealand
    Hadley’s qualifications include:
    • Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Economics, Finance, Business Law and Management (Otago University)
    • Graduate Diploma specialising in Property Valuation (Lincoln University)
    In his spare time Hadley enjoys fishing, scuba and free diving in the Marlborough Sounds, snowboarding in the winter months, cooking, brewing and travel.

    Kath & Elaine, Administration Assistants, Alexander Hayward Ltd

    Usually your first contact with Alexander Hayward Ltd will be either Elaine or Kath. Both have previously held positions in legal firms specialising in conveyancing before joining the team.

    With a combined experience of over 37 years their knowledge and professional capabilities are paramount in the day to day support given to the Valuers.

    They pride themselves in the presentation of each report and service given to our Clients.

    A further member of the administration team is Wendy who provides much needed back-up support on call.
